Thesis Year - Blog Post 8
The 4 support points all have drafts now. Starting this week I will be making fixes and edits to the drafts (a passthrough myself first, then sending them off to Clark’s Writing Center for review and feedback, the thesis class will look over them, as will my advisor)… in other words, the easy part. I am no fan of writing, and now that the 4 support points are done, there’s a little less pressure on this part of the workload (again, I’m not done writing, there’s still the intro, conclusion, my bio, artist statement, my motivation, and discussion about my project – but the support points were the main part of the workload, and now that I have a draft for each, the rest of it will fall into place smoothly when it comes time to write all of that other stuff).
Drafts Below (about 20 pages of content now all together, more on the way because of the other writings and images yet to be placed)
Project side of things, see images below…
Ed's Museum model is nearing completion (entrance area - the dome you see, currently incomplete). Following completion, next steps will include cleaning up geometry, UV unwrapping, texturing.

Lots of open space between installations

2nd piece of digital art finished. Called "You’re my hero" - Depicting front line workers during covid from a child's perspective. Skyler's (our digital artist) mother is a K-4th grade ESL teacher and asked one of her former students Nina, currently in fourth grade, if she could draw an appreciation piece of a doctor working during the covid pandemic. Below is Nina’s completed drawing. Below that is Skyler's cleaned up drawing (fully digital so that it will be easy to import into the museum as well as easy for the viewer to see all elements of Nina’s original drawing.

Empty Shelves and Entry Statue Installations are complete and ready for importing into Matt's Unity Scene (linked here is "Empty Shelves" for example, all assets ready for Unity - to be assembled, put together, in-engine).
Video recording or Unity test scene will be available in the next post.
Audio work is coming in and on track to be done soon! Listen to music tracks here.
Writing progress here. You may notice some installations have the word (centerpiece) next to them - those are priority assets to work on.
Speaking of priority assets - I have found various free assets (here) to help speed up/simplify work for artists making installations.
This Wednesday marks the end of Sprint 4. 2 more sprints, 4 more full weeks in the semester after this one. We will prioritize getting the Museum model fully finished, and at least 2 more installations.
