Weekly Blog Entry Research & Project Updates (5)
The Vaccination Wing Space is now completed. Check out the images below for specific details. Next week I move into modeling the pieces on display within the space.
The protection from falling into the center pit will be angled glass (loosely inspired by this)

Added minor Arch details to entry and exit.

The skylight has been added. Open air (no window, though players won't be able to notice due to bright light) and the circular shape around it will (time permitting) have texture of the outer edges of the globe. It's quite big, easier to see when in-engine. Have decided not to incorporate Hanging Birdhouses discussed in initial planning into scene unless time permits (birds will be used in scene, birdhouses will not).

Will be textured to look like...

The cubes added on the ground floor and second floor are for scale (they represent people).

Exterior View.

Poly Count given here.

An example of one of the UV sheets, this one is for the walls and ceiling of the Main hall and Side Rooms.

Checkerboard Material applied to the entire space.

Inside the glass dome.

Second Floor, no Warping.

The UV's for just the side stairs (both the east and west stairs are identical copies).

14 UV sheets were made for various aspects of the space, resulting in 1 material per UV sheet - 14 Materials will be incorporated in total.

The Space is complete and I am ready to move onto the display pieces within the provided space.

Finally, a very useful bit of cleanup I did involved naming. At one point I needed to import my scene and save as a new scene but that caused my naming to be thrown off by Maya's default import naming conventions. I found out how to turn those off here, then renamed everything (meshes and materials) as appropriate. This was extremely useful and something I will make sure to do in the future!
Tentative Project Schedule

PHASE IV
· Week 11 – Week 14: Putting Everything Together – Place assets in game engine (Unity); appropriate scaling, duplicating, lighting work, sound work. I give myself 4 weeks – but can easily be pushed to less time if I am behind in the previous steps outlined in the schedule above. Turn in Semester Paper Final Copy. Write updated Artist Statement.
