Weekly Blog Entry Research & Project Updates (4)
Contrary to what I thought prior regarding “finishing the Vaccination Wing space in one week as opposed to two”, it will take me the scheduled two weeks to finish the space (no real loss there, it is as I expected, and nothing down the line changes – the only way it could’ve changed was if I had actually finished the space in one week, then I would’ve been technically ahead of schedule). Additionally, I made a last second decision to work with MAYA 2020 as opposed to Blender (purely a comfort choice, I intend to practice and familiarize myself with Blender through personal projects over the Summer, however, being aware of project deadlines and a shorter semester than average, I chose to work in a program I am simply more familiar and comfortable with to be as efficient as possible).
As for the Wing itself, the images below show the work in progress (coming along well, I’m missing some minor additions – railings around the center pit, additional geometry around the entrance and exit – and the skylight (the last major addition). After which I will UV the model (and place checkerboard textures to see how well the UV's came out, and move onwards to creating the pieces that inhabit the space.
An overview of the space (X-Ray Vision)

The Normals, correctly laid out, notice last semester's "Hall Entrance/Exit Asset at the front, to provide scale for the Vaccination Wing.

The entrance to the hall (one of the first things that will be seen in the background is the center piece, in front of it and the first thing to catch the eye will be the window netting you walk through and the rocks with the red cross emblems carved into them).

The platform where the symbol of medicine will stand (upright). It may look like the platform is floating, but the fake symbol of medicine discussed last post will act as the pillar for this platform, to be made in the coming weeks.

A look into the pit where the fake medicine symbol will go, as well as the supressed COVID Virus.

PHASE IV
· Week 11 – Week 14: Putting Everything Together – Place assets in game engine (Unity); appropriate scaling, duplicating, lighting work, sound work.
