Thesis Year - Blog Post 4

I’m beginning to realize again how… “full-time” producer work is. Going into this semester I had expected to be able to essentially divide my workload for the project into 2 piles, production, and art (with occasional forays into design and writing)… but that has not been the case.

Production is a full-time role, and as head of the project I have extra duties as well. This week (pre-Wednesday 09/22) alone I plan on setting up my new GitHub Account to better look into programming progress, creating a simple Google Slides Template for sprint archiving (I am still having my team just do simple write ups, I’ll just then be copying and pasting them into slides and keeping them on the drive for anyone who asks for them), a documentation Review on the Google Drive (reviewing writing team’s work, and adding stretch goals to features list), creating a Museum Main Installations Assets list to keep track of main assets being worked on, and begin looking for free, downloadable assets in line with what is on the general asset list.

My team has been made repeatedly aware via meetings and Discord that they must start submitting/uploading images or videos of work in progress starting this week for Sprint 2 submissions or it will impact their grades (I am expecting to see in the write-ups links to images of models/2D art in progress, link to video of a unity project in progress, and links to documents – documentation has been going up in a timely manner thus far but there are still things I am expecting to see be put up soon).

On the research side, a helpful meeting with my advisor showed that I am definitely on the right track with my thesis statement work and do not have to start over. I’ve mainly worked on tying in support points with the project as a whole (see here, specifically summary portions). Will likely be announcing to team (and beyond) interview questions for my research paper soon. Will try and interview willing participants with prepared questions sometime in October, need to actually make those questions first though. Since I am basically a week ahead on Support Point Work, I will try and work on those ASAP should time permit.
