Thesis Year - Blog Post 6

Draft for my second support point has been written (you can find it here, draft for support point 1 is here). Not much to report on the research front, just plugging away at it week by week, I’m not necessarily a big fan of writing though, so I’ll be glad when I’ve got through drafts/fixes for all major support points of my paper, it won’t mean “no more writing” but it will mean “less writing”. I should get to that point over the next 2 weeks.

Moving on to the project, Museum model is coming along, at this point it should be ready in 2 weeks from this post (not counting texturing), Ed has been diligently making more and more assets to include in the environment (some will be used, some, like the windows, won't) and will be able to deliver 1 week behind the milestone I set up for the environment (that’s not bad as I basically guesstimated the milestone deadlines, only being a week off is just fine with me!)…

First piece of Digital Art is also complete, Skyler will be picking another from the list and working on that next.

Installation creation is a little slower than I would like. I hope Dan to be done with the entry statue (globe) by next week and to make significant progress on “Empty Shelves”, Adrian I hope to be nearly, if not fully, done with “Streaming Services” so they can move on from these 3 assets onto new ones to try and meet the goal of at least 7 of the installations being fully done by semester’s end.

I will soon run out of Design work for Jason and Matthew Anderson. I’ve talked to Ulm though; it may be possible to have them jump to another project (to prevent them doing nothing for half a semester). Or I may simply have them try their hand at writing work.

Writing team, speaking of, continues to plug away at dialog and text for environment. Nothing much to say yet, one of my tasks is to review that work (I will be doing that tomorrow).

Finally, programming. VR test scene continues to be worked on, will be letting Matthew know of the deadline (3 more weeks, week of 10/18) to get the test scene fully done so we can start bringing in actual assets to place in scene.

Got my audio guy for the project. We will be meeting every other week to review progress (audio should be fully done by the end of October, pre-Thanksgiving at the latest!). I've also worked on identifying free assets for other objects to inhabit the space. I've made design notes to the map Ed map of the museum space.

That’s where I am, explained to the team of upcoming Sprint Submissions (and the importance of submitting something, even if I know what they did already), should have stuff to present to Ulm for Thesis class (though that may be pushed back a week, we apparently have some online meeting with Library staff this week).
